Dr. Liu Jiaping, Green Building Expert and CPC member, graduated from the Department of Physics at Northwest University in 1982 and received the degree of doctor of Engineering from School of Architecture at Chongqing Architecture University in June 1998. He is currently the dean and professor at the School of Architecture, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, and the director of State Key Laboratory for Green Building in Western China; he also works as professor at the Beijing University of Technology, and the director of the Beijing Key Laboratory of Green Building Environment and Energy-efficiency Technology. He now serves as the vice chairman of the Architectural Society of China and the chairman of the Architectural Physics Branch.
Dr. Liu Jiaping has long been engaged in the promotion of basic research, teaching and application of green building and energy efficiency technology. He has been the principal investigator of dozens of national research projects, including many key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and makes outstanding contribution to design principles and methods of green buildings especially of ultra-low energy buildings in western solar-intensive regions. As the first author, he received the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Award, three times of the First Prizes of Science and Technology Progress Awards from the Ministry of Education and other provincial bodies as well as twice of World Habitat Awards Excellence Awards. Dr. Liu Jiaping issued 8 academic monographs and textbooks, and published nearly two hundred journal articles. He received many honors including the 2001 National Distinguished Youth Science Fund, 2007 National Model Teacher, academic leader for 2009 National Innovation Research Group for "Western Built Environment and Energy Consumption Control", 2012 the Ho Leung Ho Lee Award, 2017 National Innovation Competition Award, and Leadership of the Huang Danian Prize. He was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2011.
